For much of my ride the road through New Brunswick ran along the border with the USA and we were in covered bridge country. No horse buggies, though.

I said earlier that I thought the area around Ottawa would be a great place to settle. I have to say that Fredericton runs it a close second. Cycling through the countryside I could feel the stress leaking away. It is a land of slow rivers, green fields, and white painted, wooden churches.

Eventually I noted that the river was becoming tidal; I was closing in on Nova Scotia
