27 July. Day 58. 6900 Kms. Arrived St John's!
I felt almost tearful as I rode down to the sea. Could I really have pedalled almost 7000kms? I had done it. I asked a couple strolling along the dockside to take a picture. 'Where had I come from?', they asked. Casually I told them that I had just cycled across Canada from Vancouver. They were duly impressed.

What made my arrival special was the welcome I got when I checked into the hostel (I will always choose a hostel over a hotel--so much more fun and so much more friendly). The rum came out and Bill, who ran the place, made me feel as if I had conquered a mountain. Well, maybe I had.
